Red Elderberry

Red elderberry is generally not considered edible or medicinal for humans, although birds and other animals eat the berries and some people do reportedly use the cooked berries medicinally. Red elderberry has more cone-shaped flower clusters compared to the dark-fruited American elderberry or European elderberry widely used in medicine. Red elderberry also flowers at least a month earlier and is very shade tolerant, often found blooming in wet forests.
