Quaking aspen is a poplar tree native across this continent, with smooth, powdery-white bark. Very fast growing and adaptable. It typically grows tall and straight and thrives in rocky, upland soils with lots of light. Because it will grow new trees from its roots, a stand of quaking aspen in the American West is considered one of the largest and oldest single organisms on Earth!
