Buttonbush

Cephalanthus occidentalis

Buttonbush is an unusual native shrub growing 6-12 ft tall and wide. Notable for distinctive spherical flowers in July and August. Flowers are great source of food for a very wide array of pollinators including butterflies and parasitoid wasps. 

Adaptable. Buttonbush tolerates moist to wet soils and full sun to part shade. Thrives in rich moist soils.
