Pre-Ordering for Pick Up on the Farm

We do not deliver or ship - orders are for PICK-UP only.

In this early spring season, we have plants available both as potted and as bare-root. As we progress into May, more of our inventory will be available only potted.

Bare root:

What are bare-root plants? They are just that: dormant, healthy plants with little or no soil on their roots. They need to be planted promptly but can be kept several days if the roots are kept cool and moist (not freezing). Burying the roots in a pile of mulch, compost or some loose soil in a garden bed works well. Please be sure to read our Resources page for additional tips on planting! Bare-root trees are a great value and perform well.

Potted:

Potted plants can be kept for a full season or more in their pots - there is no rush to get them planted as long as they are kept watered (pots can dry out quickly.) Potted plants are a great option if you're buying later in the growing season, or if you're buying early but might not get to plant for a few weeks. The cost of materials and labor for potting plants does nearly double the price. There are several species that we only offer potted, including hardy kiwi, honeyberry, goumi, schizandra and seaberry.

Picking up:

Please plan to pick up your order the weekend after you place your order, between 10-4:30 either Saturday or Sunday. If those times don't work for you, you can email easthilltreefarm@gmail.com to schedule an alternative pick-up time, but plan to pick up your order within a week of when you place it.

Most orders should fit comfortably in a station wagon or hatchback vehicle.

If you've ordered bare root plants, it can be helpful to bring materials to wrap the roots of your plants if you have it; a tarp or old large plastic sheets or bags work well. We will also have plenty of materials on hand if needed.

Substitutions & errors:

This is our first year offering online ordering! We are excited and hopeful for a smoother and more accessible experience for you, and we will also likely be working through some kinks. It is possible that at times our online inventory and our actual inventory will get slightly out of sync, and an item you ordered will not end up being available. If that happens we will do our best to notify you, but if we don't discover the problem until you've arrived we hope you'll accept a substitution or refund along with our apology. Thank you for being understanding!

If your planting fails:

We work hard to ensure the plants we sell are ready to succeed and that you have the information you need to get them off to a good start. If the plants fail to leaf out due to something on our end, we are sorry, and we will offer a replacement or credit equal to the price paid for the plant.
