McKenzie Aronia

White flowers bloom in May, followed by large, edible, dark purple berries. Super high in iron and antioxidants. Excellent fall color. One of the only edibles to thrive in wet soils. Beautiful Native shrub. Great for wildlife. Deer will browse it given the chance.

McKenzie is taller and denser than Viking with slightly larger berries With similar flavor. Selected for use in shelter-belts. Originated at the USDA plant breeding program in 1976 in North Dakota. Released in 2008.
