Also known as serviceberry, saskatoon, shadblow, or shadbush, this native, berry-producing shrub has some of the earliest spring flowers. Delicious berries (think almond, cherry, blueberry). Plants do best in a warm, dry location. They can be slow to establish and are worth fertilizing with animal manure or an organic blended fertilizer in spring and early summer.
Canadensis is a productive, rounded shrub-variety, great for flowers and fruit production. Less suckering than regent. Grows 6-8 feet.
